Knott's Scary Farm.

The pioneers foe Knott’s Halloween Haunt in 1973 were Larry Vincent, Bill Hollingshead (Entertainment Manager of the Knott's Berry Farm Entertainment Department), Gary Salisbury (Entertainment Supervisor), Gene Witham (Head of the Makeup Department), Bud Hurlbut (Attractions), Martha Boyd.

Knott’s Halloween Haunt saw its first year in 1973. Knott's Scary Farm has a long and interesting history, and for the most part, has been Larry Vincent was in a bit but, according to Bill Hollingshead (Entertainment Director of Knott's Berry Farm in the early 1970's)

"Sinister Seymour" served as the first celebrity host of the first two big Halloween Haunt events at Knott's Berry Farm in 1973 and 1974. The photo above shows Seymour near the exit of Knott's Haunted Shack.

  2. What VDT said....ditto! Sorry I'm late commenting on this. Fantastic ad for first Haunt! I remember Seymour, but had no idea he was at the first two Haunts. I only remember Wolfman Jack, Elvira and the Crypt Keeper. Do they even do a theater show for Haunt anymore?

  3. My family always stayed up late to watch Seymour and "Fight Night" -- he was the best movie host ever! And we always loved Knotts Berry Farms' Haunted Shack. We were sorry when they closed it. At least The Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz is still open, and gives the same experience.
